Socks Socks Socks Socks

9th Jan 2018

This is my 13th year of doing school uniform juggle - I've still got 7 years to go. Plenty of Mums do this longer than I. I've made mistakes along the way and I've picked up plenty of tips too. I'll share some of them here in this blog.

School Socks Suck

Yes they do!  They go into the washing machine a pair and come out delightfully single.  They begin life the same size and end up never finding a matching size again.

Add to the normal sock dilemma having 2 or more kids, same colour sock, slightly different size and......  Now i know that some Mums and Dads have socks under control and well I envy them!

We have a single sock basket in our house.  The aim being that eventually every few months there is a sock B&S ball and everyone ends up with a partner - or ends up in the bin!  Harsh world for socks in my house.

I have learnt over the years that socks are an investment worth making.  I buy good quality Red Robin Socks and I start the year with 6 pairs each.  Extreme maybe - but easier than always chasing socks on a Friday morning, when you are already late.

To make socks easier to sort (if everyone is the same colour) see if you can go up two sizes for the the older child if everyone can't wear the same size.  It's easier to tell the difference when sorting and we all need to make things a bit easier for us don't we.
